Consignment Rules
Cheapskates is exclusively a sports consignment store. We offer an opportunity for the community to sell their sporting equipment with little effort, while also receiving a return for their previously-owned sports equipment and apparel.
Customers wishing to consign with Cheapskates will need to create an account with us, providing details including name, mailing address, driver’s license number and phone number so that we can deliver your payment once your item(s) have sold.
Once your item has sold, we will mail you a cheque for 50% of the sale value of your item(s) sold in the previous month. Cheques are mailed on the 1st of each month. By default, payouts will be held as store credit until the amount reaches $20, at which point a cheque will be mailed at month end. If your payout is less than $20 but you want to receive a cheque, please email us to request your payout and we will mail it out at month end.
Pricing
Cheapskates utilizes a unique pricing system, allowing customers to control the consignment process from start to finish while also allowing savings for purchasers. Once an original sale price has been decided upon, Cheapskates will drop the price by 20% of the original amount every 2 weeks, gradually reducing the cost until the item is purchased or reclaimed.
For Example: If on January 2nd a customer consigned an item:
Item #123 Original price: $10.00
On January 16th the price will drop (by 20%) to: $8.00
On January 30th the price will drop (by 40%) to: $6.00
On February 13th the price will drop (by 60%) to: $4.00
On February 27th the price will drop (by 80%) to: $2.00
On March 13th the price will drop (by 100%) to: $0.00
NOTE: In the event that an item drops to $0.00, the customer forfeits any rights to ownership and Cheapskates may deal with each item as they see fit, generally through donations to local groups. You may pull an item from the store at any time BEFORE the price reaches zero.
